Down North, Up South

They told me you can't do that in a skirt. I did it anyway.
They told me you can't walk around without your bra. I did it anyway.
They told me "put your legs down, you're not a trishaw driver's daughter". I did it anyway.
They told me to stop burping in public. I did it anyway. Though maybe I should do it with discretion because of the food stench.
They told me I'm stupid. I guess they assumed cause they're older that they know more than I do, FOR SURE.
They told me I'm not a lot of things. True, you can't be everything, you can't do everything. But I sure as hell am doing what I can to be a better version of who I was yesterday.
