Weekly Dress: DIG OUT

 Hi! :)

So here is the Weekly Dress as promised...

Ready? :)

*drumroll*

From my trip to Paris. Well, technically Versailles.

In this outfit:

Inner spaghetti strap (something I've had since I was maybe 15? Wow. I've had it for six years)

Outer top g.u Japan. It's actually a sister brand of Uniqlo. I bet we all know what Uniqlo is. The stuff is cheaper, they're more casual but you kinda need to keep your eyes opened for it. I got this on my trip to Japan.

Jeans: a friend who was clearing out her old clothes. It was US$1.50

Shoes: Some Chinese run clothing "outlet" here in Barcelona it was around €10.

Bag: Shana. €13-ish.

To be honest, its useless for me to tell you where I got these things from. But if you so happen to be in the places that have been mentioned and are looking for a place to shop, you should go to the above mentioned places (hint: those with the links are more reliable).

However, as I mentioned on Monday's post, I'm going to teach you guys how to dress up with what you already have. Instead of buying more and more things for every Weekly Dress. If you are clueless as to my goals on Weekly Dress, click here

Today's advice:
Go to your closet, bring out boxes or bags and prepare for what I like to call a DIG OUT.
The name says it all. You, my dear reader, are going to DIG OUT all the stuff that has been buried underneath all the newer things that you've bought over the centuries. As seen in Toy Story 2, Jessie talks about how the old things get forgotten cause of the new things we have and yes, we all do that.
So, first thing we're gonna do it start separating what you want and what you don't. If it doesn't fit, it goes. If it's color is faded and is breaking into a million pieces, bid it farewell.

Here are some extra tips on the side you should consider when deciding:
1. Do they match easily? We WANT TO KEEP those that do because this saves us the money from buying new things to match.
2. Does it have sentimental value? Let's say, for example, it is your Sports shirt from High School and it reminds you of the beautiful times you've trained with your teammates and that kind of sentimental stuff. Yes, they can also go with your outfits! Unless its WAAAY too old and torn up and whatever, then they belong in a different category called the "Memory Box". For keeping and showing your grandkids for story times in 60 years. HEHE
3. Is it BLACK? YES. You read me right. Keep your blackies. Black goes with ANYTHING. It is the perfect staple for anything. Especially on those lazy days when you have no idea of what to wear and you don't care. The black shirt/t shirt will do perfect. Especially with shorts.
4. Anything you can fix, bring them to your nearest Mak Cik or Aunty to fix it. They usually are not costly. But if fixing it costs more than buying a new one, just get rid of it.
5. This one tip is something my mom enjoys doing but it really depends of you. So, you're digging through your stuff, and you see this something thats super faded in color or has a BIG color stain on it. Cause your maid messed up by putting your one beautiful white thing into the machine of reds (hate it when that happens). What you can do, is go buy a dye to cover it. Depending on what your clothing piece is or what color you like, you may wanna consider the following...
- If it is a T-Shirt stained with some colors, I would recommend a tie-dye session. Gather up some friends and do it. OR
- Dye it the color it is stained. Be careful when picking out your dye. Ask the sales assistant to help you. Bring your color stained piece and ask for recommendations. OR
- If you're super artsy and love painting, grab some cloth paint and make your own!
- If it is a really pretty top that turned yellow or something, depending on how bad the thing is, you might wanna try going bold. BUT be careful! Make sure you're HAPPY with the color you pick. Don't go rouge and do a color you'll regret. Cause dying over that odd color you picked will be a bitch to deal with later. Like paint, they will mix together and you'll get something weird in the end. So, PICK THE COLOR YOU'RE HAPPIEST WITH (that GOES with the thing you're dying).
6. If it is too small, depending on how much weight you have to lose, you can either lose it (the clothing piece) or lose weight (not to the point of anorexia, please, my lovelies.)

And... I think that is it with deciding on losing it or keeping it.

Once you're done, if you think you've WAY too little clothes. And by little clothes, I mean, 2 t-shirts, no skirts, 1 pair of jeans, and no shorts, then do some shopping (Again, this is optional because it all boils down to you).

Fear not my dears!

Here are some online shops that do not cost you your month's worth of pocket money.

Lulu's for some nice affordable pieces (ESPECIALLY ON SALE!) They have good shoes and outfits but you have to look and hand pick.
The Shop Next Door for some cute little accesories if you, like me enjoy your accesories.
One of my favorites for affordable outfits: Vibrant Swirls. I've gotten some really reasonably priced outfits that I still fit in. Their quality is pretty good too.
The It Girl for some dressie pieces and their newly launched sister site Lola that sells discounted products of our much loved outfits.

Tip when shopping:
1. Think of how it would match what you already have. Get stuff that suits your taste and that goes with MOST if not ALL the things you have.
2. See if you can accessorize with the belts, earrings, necklaces and whatever accessories you have currently.
3. Is it expensive? Make a budget for yourself. Specific budgets are good too. For example, nothing more than RM 45 for a dress (these sites have them for cheap!), RM20 for a pair or shorts (even this is kinda pushing it a little), etc. You get the point. Make a budget before going out/ looking online.
4. Also, go to trusted brands. For example, online shopping. Do your market research. See how many people go there, ask around. Your friends may or may not have been there. Ask for recommendations. There are SO many of these online shopping sites nowadays.
I LOVE Belleberries Fancy Couture. SUPER cheap stuff! :)

I'm sorry, I know this is a long post but I'm working on it! :)

Hope this helped! :) and YAY to my first Weekly Dress! :)
