Just an update on my life since the semester began:

1. Went to my first Mexican party (it was a baby shower but hey, it was done Mexican style)

and...

Disneyland 

(with the Valle family).

It was pretty epic. 

I had so much fun..

2. Had an lunch at Nina's the indian restaurant with those who were in the Argentina group :) 

for some, it was their first time..

3. A concert with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra with my Physics professor 

4. Last but not least: 

Skiing. I was so scared... but I had so much fun. Learning it was so scary though. Haha.

Ah, I can't complain. This semester has been fun so far. I like. The absence of sports gave more liberty. I like... I also began doing Yoga. It's good. I love it. HEH.

I noticed that my friends like to take pictures with their mouths open to show their joy 

HEHE I had to.

Children's Rights in Argentina

Argentina... What an experience!

I still can't believe it's been a month since we returned from the hot summer heat of that place.

Since my return, my face has decided to go haywire and break out a shit ton... Hmm. Oh well. My face is just bad with adapting I guess.

Whatevs.

Back to the topic of my trip, in my Dragons, Pheonixes and Pork post, I talked about the food and the hostel... Now it's time to talk about what we did... :) 

So, just a mini summary on the purpose of us being there...

Our topic was Children's Rights in Argentina, as the title of this post has so kindly pointed out...

We did lots to aid our understanding of the topic. However, in order to understand our topic, we had to learn about the history of Argentina in the last decade.

But hands-on wise, we did a lot...

Here are a list of places we went to/attended:

Evita Museum

Plaza de Mayo 

to watch the march of las abuelas

to see the memorial plaques dedicated to los desaparicidos

we also visited Judge Tolasco who was presiding over the trial against the 

militia who were involved in the disappearance of the youth.

met and had an interview with high school students

who are involved in advocating the issue in school

and who host the camp outs in the high schools

ESMA

where the youth were tortured before being murdered

around the soccer stadium near ESMA that hosted the 1978 World Cup

Parque de la Memoria

Memorial park to remember those whose lives were lost

Jaguel de Maria

The foster home located an hour away from Buenos Aires

The kids were so friendly and adorable 

That was basically what we did in a nutshell. It was one of the coolest most interesting 2 weeks of my life.

Learning about the history and stuff I had been so sheltered from. Boy, I will never forget.

Oh hey!! One more cool thing! on the 9th of March, we will be headed to California State University San Bernadino  for a conference to talk about our Learning Cluster. This is so exciting! If you so happen to be around that area, do remember to drop by ;)

My School, My Home, My Heart.

My school offers many scholarships to students of all walks of life. The scholarship money comes from donations that come from people all around the world and from all types of financial backgrounds. So, most if not all students in my school are on some sort of scholarship, one way or another. Every year, as a token of our appreciation, we write letters to our donors. This year, they decided to make a video for them too. Not very long, but VERY well worth the watch.

I am proud to say I am a student of Soka University of America!

Such an irony of a title judging by the fact that this post is gonna be a teeny bitch session.

Yes, modernization has brought mankind far.
We've grown, revolutionized and morphed into something quite different from our ancestors.
RULES, restrictions, regulations, all that held us back no longer hold truth.
We move, we grove, and remove all that we never enjoyed to make our lives better.
But aren't we forgetting about a lot of things that once made displayed our innocence?
Are we disregarding all that IS good for something that FEELS good?
Don't you think we're throwing away value to justify our rebellion?

Are we forgetting our origins?

Sure, we're all slowly gradually becoming as one, a family, a unity.
But as a consequence, we're also beginning to lose a sense of identity as something unique, distinct.
What happened to innocence?
What happened to value?

We watched Immortals at the dollar theater! 

(it was $3 well spent hehe)

and then...

we went to Cha.

After so long of not having it and after having some insane cravings for it...

I must say, it was rather satisfying :)

Resolute, Resolve, Revolve.

I made my New Year's Resolution for 2012.

Late, I know but better late than never, right? It's almost February and I still have 11 months ahead. 11 months of change to be made. :) All possible when you think about it. Very little time. Much to be done.

Someone once told me a criteria he seeks in a companion. He told me he needs her to work hard in life. While at first I couldn't really fully grasp and understand his standpoint, I believe he holds much argument there. He mentioned "I work hard in life, at everything I do". Why shouldn't we all? After all, life IS about working hard to gain something positive in return, no? I watched Arthur on the plane and in one of the parts (I'm not going to give this away but I do recommend this movie!) the female lead says "it felt good to earn something". Haven't you have one of those moments, say a game or a sport you worked SO hard for and won? Feels pretty darn amazing, no?

I think I'm going a little off topic here though it is quite related to my New Year's Resolution. This year is quite an interesting one to build because I'm at a point in my life where BIG decisions need to be made. *hmph! determined face*

One of my New Year's Resolution in order to fulfill these goals and make these decisions is something I've NEVER done before. I used to always think it a waste of anyone's time. So, I've decided to actually have a time management thing going on. Every year, the school gives us a student handbook. I am determined to fill this thing to the brim! With post-it's and all that jazz. I told myself that I need to set my life straight and it starts now. Late but hey, at least I came to realized that now.

Soooo it is safe to say that....

2012 is going to be crazy crazy CRAZY.
